MISSION TRIP 2008: NEW ORLEANS, LA
I can't believe a week has already gone by. Looking back, it's amazing how much work the youth group did the past five days. I am very proud of the 13 individuals who took time out of their lives to travel here and help several families that are still recovering from hurricane Katrina.
Not only did we work hard, but we spent a lot time reflecting on our own personal lives. We talked about the importance of family, the importance of faith, and having God in our lives. Our scripture focus was the story of the "woman at the well" (John 4).
It's been three years since hurricane Katrina damaged this community. To think of the thousands of people, and youth groups that have traveled here to help, and the fact that we are now a part of that hurricane relief team,
fills my heart with joy.
The 13 youth group members, along with the staff, did an outstanding job representing the Gilford Community Church. We are very excited to share our trip with our community.
A special thanks to Rick and Sue, for being there with the youth this week.
God Bless TEAMeffort, and the City of New Orleans!!!!
